The work Eucalyptus was a contemporary lace made from eucalyptus leaves found in the Sydney region during the bushfires. The two laces work together as a diptych, they fit as one work into 30 x 30 cm. Materials: Eucalyptus leaves, machine stitching onto a soluble backing Dimension: Each lace measures 14cm wide x 24cm height The piece was accepted into the Petite Miniature Textiles 2020 exhibition is the 6th iteration of this popular and much loved event. Occurring biennially, this exhibition showcases the best small textile artworks from around the nation creating contemporary textiles no larger than 30x30x30cm. Petite has become a highlight of the gallery’s program and focus for contemporary textile art practitioners. A diverse array of techniques and themes explore everything from colour, texture and decoration to social, political and environmental issues, propelling textiles into the realm of the visual arts.
