Moving in Air is an exploration of the relationship between clothing and the weather at the level of everyday embodied experience and was produced as part of a Powerhouse Museum research fellowship titled Futuring weather: Thinking, making, and wearing through the Powerhouse collection. This work utilises video documentation of an improvised movement workshop that took place in and around the museum precinct, where emphasis was placed upon air and its medial qualities as something we are in but also something we breathe, and displace, through our own physical movements. The clothing featured in the video was designed to elicit aerated movements. The focus of the project is an exploration of environmental relations based in reciprocity and connection. The project was developed with the support of the Powerhouse Museum through a Research fellowship and University of Technology Early Career Capability Development Grant.
