This paper explores a novel composition for an electronic taiko (e-taiko) that transforms a solo drummer into an orchestral presence aligning with NIME’s theme of “Tactility in a Hybrid World”. It presents a unique method applied to Logic Pro X bypassing complex learning curves associated with interactive music systems. The composition employs game audio and instrument design techniques to ensure each performance is unique and responsive. Key focus areas include enhancing the visceral behavioral and reflective stimuli levels between performer and audience. The paper discusses the development methodology concluding with feedback from the expert panel for future developments. This is aimed at offering insights for composers seeking to expand into reactive real-time compositions without a daunting learning curve.
