High Tc superconducting (HTS) cables and their application to develop a DC electrical power transmission system with the advantages of high transport current capability, low resistive loss, and compact systems have been studied and verified. Technical assessments of DC transmission behaviors with the use of the HTS DC cable technology have been carried out with the HTS DC cable and the system models built. The analysis results are presented in this paper, as well as discussion of economical benefits of this new technology.
