pubs.rights-statement	This is a portfolio of newspaper opinion pieces on gender, work and remuneration in Australia. 1. Research background This research is in the field of journalism studies and gender studies. Alexander et al note that issues such as gender pay and occupation gaps are multivariate problems and must be approached as such. Baird has noted there is little mainstream media coverage of these issues. Srebeny argues that the debate about gender inequality has flourished in alternative media. The research question is: what forms of mainstream journalism are best suited to representing these multivariate social issues? 2. Research contribution These pieces demonstrated that the opinion column format is the best suited of traditional journalism genres to represent these complex issues. Opinion columns allow for a synthesis of original interviews, original research and data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency in a way that is not true in other forms of news reporting. 3. Impact All pieces were published the Canberra Times (print and online) and on the websites of the Sydney Morning Herald and the Age. The combined readership of these columns reached was over eighty thousand. The social media include over two thousand facebook shares and a thousand tweets.	en_US
