Literature surrounding design systemics reveals that complex alternate perspectives and heuristics have the capacity to greatly frame and more importantly reframe design directions. This paper develops the position that if we are able to reframe/shift the designers perspectives so as to focus their attention on the dynamic connections and relations between people, social institutions, environments, and technologies this serves to enhance the designed solution. A review of the three research domains of design, frame theory, and Game Theory, reveals that they offer new and relevant perspectives that have the capacity to inform our design developments and design processes in a positive way. This paper reviews core underlying constructs within the domains mentioned above. Moreover, this paper will present the case that new perspectives derived from a number of core themes which have resonance within the three domains have implications and consequences for developing tools for dynamic reframing of our Design perspectives. Based on the arguments presented we propose a game which could serve as a valuable tool. It should be noted this is a theoretical position paper. While the proposed strategy remains untested, the central focus of this paper was to discuss the need for research investigating dynamic reframing and the implications for both design practice and indeed design education.
